This depends on the type of silicone rubber used

1. Addition cure silicones

These silicones have high viscosity, and hence trap bubbles stirred in during mixing. A vacuum chamber is essential for good quality castings.

2. Condensation cure silicones

These silicones have a lower viscosity and so trap bubbles less. However for good quality castings we do recommend using a vacuum chamber if possible.
